Como consider Sanchez swoop as Chelsea goalkeeper shunned for Martinez

Como are exploring a deal to sign Robert Sanchez from Chelsea after the latter’s signing of Emiliano Martinez.

Sanchez was dropped to the bench for Chelsea’s 4-3 win over former club Brighton on Sunday, with new signing Martinez thrust straight into the side. The decision came after Sanchez was at fault for both Fulham goals during Chelsea’s 3-2 win at Craven Cottage last week.

With Martinez installed as first-choice immediately under Xabi Alonso, Sanchez is considering his options and Como have emerged as a potential destination.

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that the Serie A side are assessing a move for the Spanish shot-stopper, as ex-Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas plans another raid on his former team. Como have already signed Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea this summer.

Como’s interest comes as Swedish goalkeeper Noel Törnqvist nears a move to Monza. Chelsea are open to letting Sanchez leave with Mike Penders covering as deputy to Martinez. The latter has returned from an impressive loan stint at Strasbourg.
