Dutch-born Derrick Luckassen makes Ghana debut in Germany defeat – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

Derrick Luckassen made his debut for Ghana after coming off the bench in the 2-1 friendly defeat to Germany in Stuttgart, marking a first appearance for the Dutch-born defender following his recent call-up.

The centre-back was introduced in the 56th minute to replace the injured Kojo Oppong Peprah, having been an unused substitute in the heavy loss to Austria days earlier.

Luckassen, who recently switched international allegiance, was handed his first opportunity by coach Otto Addo as Ghana continued preparations for the 2026 World Cup. He featured for 34 minutes and contributed defensively, recording two clearances and contesting several duels during his time on the pitch.

The 30-year-old’s inclusion is part of efforts to strengthen Ghana’s defensive options ahead of the tournament in North America, where the Black Stars will face Panama, Croatia and England in the group stage.

While Ghana showed improvement against Germany compared to the 5-1 Austria defeat, the result extended their winless run to four matches, raising further questions about consistency heading into the World Cup.

Luckassen will now hope his debut performance did enough to earn a place in Otto Addo’s final squad for the tournament.
