Engineering firm Engineers & Planners has honoured part of its financial commitment to Ghana’s World Cup preparations, paying $2 million into the Black Stars’ fundraising campaign ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America.
The payment was formally presented on Thursday, April 30, 2026, to Deputy Finance Minister Hon. Thomas Nyarko Ampem by a delegation led by company founder Ibrahim Mahama.
The contribution forms part of a previously announced $5 million headline sponsorship pledge unveiled in March 2026, positioning Engineers & Planners as one of the leading private sector partners supporting Ghana’s preparations for the tournament.
The fundraising initiative is designed to mobilise resources to support the Black Stars’ logistics, training programmes, infrastructure needs and international preparation schedule ahead of the global showpiece, which will be hosted in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Ghana, four-time African champions, have been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama, a grouping that has intensified calls for early and sustained investment to ensure competitive readiness.
Officials say further announcements on corporate backing and partnership deals are expected in the coming weeks as the fundraising drive gathers momentum.
List of corporate and private contributions
Several organisations and individuals have already made significant pledges in support of the national team’s campaign:
- Gold Fields Ghana has committed $2 million, with an additional $1 million expected next year.
- KGL Group has pledged GH₵10 million, with GH₵5 million already disbursed.
- Christian Salamony Game Technology has committed $2 million.
- Serene Insurance has pledged GH₵2 million in cash alongside a GH₵20 million insurance package for the team.
- Jewel Energy & Icon Energy have each committed GH₵1 million, with some reports indicating Jewel Energy’s pledge at $1 million.
- An anonymous donor has also contributed $1 million.
Celebrity and individual support
The campaign has also attracted backing from public figures and private donors:
- Shatta Wale has pledged $100,000 to support fan engagement initiatives.
- Stonebwoy has contributed $81,000 in cash and $20,000 in music production and rights for a campaign song, bringing his total support to $101,000.
- Alex Okyere of KAF Company Ltd has donated GH₵240,000.
- Timeline and Innovation Company, led by Alhaji Musah, has committed $300,000.
The combined pledges reflect growing momentum behind Ghana’s preparations as stakeholders push for a well-resourced campaign at football’s biggest stage.
