Ghana forward Ernest Nuamah will continue playing top-flight football in France next season after Olympique Lyon officially won their appeal to stay in Ligue 1.
The DNCG (French football’s financial watchdog) had initially ruled that the seven-time French champions would be relegated to Ligue 2 due to financial irregularities. However, Lyon appealed the decision â and it has now been overturned.
The club released a statement shortly after the decision was confirmed, saying:
“Today’s decision is the first step to restore confidence in Olympique Lyonnais. We can now focus our attention on sporting objectives, fully preparing for next season!”
This verdict also means Lyon will participate in the UEFA Europa League next season, keeping Ernest Nuamah in the European spotlight following a strong finish to the 2024/25 campaign.
Lyon’s survival in Ligue 1 marks a major relief for both players and fans, as the club looks to bounce back strongly under renewed focus and ambition.
