Five spicy fixtures you must watch this weekend

No Premier League? No problem.

While England’s top flight takes a break for the FA Cup this weekend, there is a clutch of high stakes matches taking place in the UK and abroad.

We’ve picked out the spiciest you can watch on television over the next three days.

Five spicy fixtures you must watch this weekend:

Chelsea Women vs Liverpool Women

A huge game for both teams but for different reasons. Chelsea cannot afford to lose this one if they want to have any chance of re-entering the title race; they find themselves nine points off league leaders Manchester City following a 5-1 defeat o them at the start of February.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are in a battle to avoid the drop. Just two years after finishing fourth in the Women’s Super League, the Reds find themselves one point above bottom-dwellers Leicester City, who have a game in hand.

This match is so widely available that it will be hard to miss it, given it will be broadcast on a number of Sky channels as well as the WSL YouTube channel.

Kick-off: 12pm, Sunday 15th February

Where to watch: Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Premier League, Sky Showcase, WSL YouTube

Coventry City vs Middlesbrough

This might just be the most important match in the Championship this season as the top two teams face off on Monday evening.

Coventry City’s commanding lead at the summit has evaporated in recent weeks. Indeed, Frank Lampard’s side now find themselves in second place, two points off Middlesbrough amid a three-game winless run.

Boro, on the other hand, have been on a tear lately, winning their last six in a row to put themselves in the driving seat. A win at the CBS Arena would make them almost unbackable favourites to win the title – and have the Sky Blues looking over their shoulder at the chasing pack.

Kick-off: 8pm, Monday 16th February

Where to watch: ITV4, ITVX, Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Football

Rangers vs Hearts

Speaking of top-of-the-table clashes, Rangers and Hearts face off in a potentially season-defining clash for both sides.

Despite a terrible start to the campaign, the Gers find themselves in second place, five points off leaders Hearts and one point ahead of hated rivals Celtic, who have a game in hand.

There is a huge opportunity for Hearts to assert their dominance and create an eight-point gap with six games to go. But victory for Danny Rohl’s men would create a genuine three-horse title race, assuming Celtic win their extra game.

The tension could hardly be any higher heading into this one.

Kick-off: 4.30pm, Sunday 15th February

Where to watch: Sky Sports Main Event, Sky Sports Football

Napoli vs AS Roma

It’s an absolutely massive week for the top end of Serie A this week with big implications on the top four race.

Just three points separate Roma in fifth from third-placed Napoli as the two sides prepare to meet this Sunday. They have both fallen off the pace for the Scudetto, with Inter Milan well ahead in first position. But there is still Champions League qualification to play for and the margins are razor thin.

There is, of course, a chance that Italy earns one of the extra Champions League spots through the coefficient table, although Roma will not want to take any chances and make sure they guarantee their place by finishing fourth or higher.

Kick-off: 7.45pm, Sunday 15th February

Inter Milan vs Juventus

The Derby d’Italia is always a spicy meatball. There is no love lost between the fan bases, who treat every game between the two clubs like a cup final.

Although Juventus are 12 points behind the league leaders, they have been in title-winning form since Luciano Spalletti replaced Igor Tudor in the dugout. They have won six of their last nine Serie A matches, losing once in that run to put them fourth in the table.

Inter, though, would point out their results have been even more impressive, having avoided defeat in the league since losing to AC milan on 23rd November.

Kick-off: 7.45pm, Saturday 15th February

Where to watch: TNT Sports 3, TNT Sports 7, DAZN
