GFA to respond to Sports Ministry’s budget claims after World Cup qualifiers – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) says it will respond to comments made by the Ministry of Sports and Recreation at Tuesday’s press briefing, but only after the Black Stars complete their World Cup qualifying fixtures against Chad and Mali.

This follows Sports Minister Kofi Adams’ revelations about the team’s budget, including reductions to several expenditure items for the qualifiers.

In a statement issued on September 2, the GFA said its immediate priority was to rally national support behind the Black Stars as they prepare for two decisive games in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

“As the custodian of Ghana football, the GFA will, in due course, provide clarifications to the issues raised,” the statement read. “We, however, deem it prudent at this time to maintain our collective focus on the immediate national task at hand – the crucial qualifiers against Chad on September 4 and Mali on September 8.”

The Association urged Ghanaians to keep faith with the team, describing unity and commitment as the Black Stars’ greatest strength.

The Black Stars face Chad in N’Djamena on Thursday before hosting Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday. Both fixtures are considered vital to Ghana’s hopes of reaching the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
