Ghana Premier League 2025/26 season to kick off on September 12 – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has confirmed that the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season will begin on the weekend of September 12, 2025, and conclude on the weekend of May 23/24, 2026.

The fixture calendar aligns with the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which kicks off on June 11 and runs until July 19, 2026, allowing domestic competitions to wrap up in time ahead of the global showpiece.

This scheduling move forms part of the GFA’s efforts to ensure a smooth, competitive, and well-coordinated football season across all tiers. The Association emphasised its commitment to adhering to the FIFA international match calendar, ensuring that Ghana’s top-flight season runs within the global framework approved for all Member Associations.

Ahead of the season opener, the GFA Congress is set for August 12, 2025, after which full preparations for the new campaign will be finalised.

As in the previous season, Premier League matches will be played on weekends, with midweek dates reserved for outstanding fixtures to avoid fixture congestion and maintain competitive balance throughout the league.

The new season presents an exciting challenge for defending champions Bibiani Gold Stars SC, who will look to retain their crown after a historic title win. Newly promoted sides Techiman Eleven Wonders, Swedru All Blacks United, and Hohoe United FC will also mark their return or debut in the elite division following their impressive campaigns in the Access Bank Division One League.

The GFA has assured stakeholders and fans of its resolve to deliver a vibrant and successful season, with all structures in place for a timely kickoff and a fitting end.
