Gift Monday has officially joined the Boston Legacy.

The Nigerian international was traded from the Washington Spirit to the expansion side on Thursday afternoon. Monday joined the National Women’s Soccer League in 2025, with the Spirit, where she made 16 starts in 40 appearances. Monday recently made NWSL history by scoring the fastest hat-trick, scoring three goals in 35 minutes and 52 seconds, against the Houston Dash.

In return, the Washington Spirit have obtained $500,000 in transfer threshold funds. According to a press release, “the trade also carries a 20 percent sell-on clause for the Spirit should Boston transfer or trade Monday to a third club in the future.”

“Gift brings a unique set of qualities as a forward that will add another dimension to our attack. She will contribute to our high press, create opportunities and be dangerous in the final third. She’s also a team player, and that matters to us as much as her quality on the pitch,” Domè Guasch, General Manager of Boston Legacy FC, said via a press release.

Monday began her professional career in 2016 with COD United Amazons in her home country, scoring 18 goals in 25 appearances through May 2018. She then transferred to FC Robo within Nigeria, where she scored 13 goals. In 2021, she joined Bayelsa Queens, her final Nigerian club, and remained with the club for one season.

In 2022, she signed with UD Tenerife in Spain’s Liga F. She scored 19 goals in 66 appearances from 2022-25.

“Since arriving, Monday has been a valuable contributor in our attacking third and played an integral role in helping this club reach the NWSL Championship last season,” Washington Spirit Sporting Director James Hocken said via a press release. “We wish her nothing but continued success in the next stage of her career.”

Internationally, Monday has scored seven goals in 22 appearances for Nigeria. She most recently scored against Egypt in the Women’s African Cup of Nations. She was recently named to Nigeria’s squad for Olympic qualifying, with matches against Comoros in Ikenne, Nigeria, on October 9 and 13.
