Golden Kick SC struck late to hand Accra Hearts of Oak a narrow friendly defeat, punishing the Phobians for a series of missed chances at the Pobiman Sports Complex.
Hearts dominated long spells of the game, especially after the break, but could not find a way past a stubborn Golden Kick backline.
The hosts pushed hard in the second half, with Mawuli Wayo a constant threat down the flank. In the 71st minute he drove into the box and whipped in a dangerous cross, only for it to run just beyond Hamza Issah as the Golden Kick goalkeeper gathered comfortably. Hearts continued to pile on the pressure and looked close to a breakthrough from set pieces, roared on by the home fans.
Their best chance came on 83 minutes when a corner caused chaos in the area and the ball was headed goalwards, but a Golden Kick defender cleared off the line to preserve the stalemate.
The visitors then produced the decisive moment in the 87th minute, finishing off a late attack to take a 1â0 lead and ultimately seal the win.
Despite the defeat, the friendly offered Hearts valuable minutes and sharpness as they continue preparations for their next league game.
