Is Morgan Gibbs-White the Midfield Solution Arsenal Need?

Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White as a potential summer signing, according to The Sun — though the move looks more like a backup plan than a genuine priority.

Rogers Remains The First Choice

The Gunners’ primary target appears to be Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers, who has caught the eye of Mikel Arteta following an outstanding season at Villa Park. However, Arsenal face stiff competition — with Paris Saint-Germain also circling the 23-year-old — meaning Gibbs-White has emerged as an alternative option should Rogers slip through their fingers.

Is Morgan Gibbs-White the Midfield Solution Arsenal Need?

Why Arsenal Need Left Wing Cover

Despite ending their 22-year wait for the Premier League title and reaching the Champions League final — only losing on penalties to PSG — Arsenal still have areas to strengthen. The left wing remains a concern, with Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli combining for 15 missed big chances last season.

Rogers would be a clear upgrade, contributing 26 goal involvements while missing just four big chances all campaign.

The Gibbs-White Problem

Here’s the issue — Gibbs-White is a natural number 10, not a winger. He has next to no experience operating wide, and Arsenal already have capable attacking midfield options in Martin Odegaard, Eberechi Eze, and Max Dowman.

Spending big on a player only to play him out of position makes little sense.

Arsenal should keep their focus firmly on Rogers. Gibbs-White, brilliant as he is at Forest, simply doesn’t fit the profile Arteta needs. Don’t expect this one to go anywhere unless the Rogers deal collapses entirely.
