“It would be a dream come true”- CF Montreal star Prince Owusu eyes place in Ghana’s World Cup squad – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

Ghana forward Prince Osei Owusu has shared his dream of playing for the Black Stars at a major international tournament.

The CF Montreal captain made his Ghana debut in November last year at the Kirin Cup tournament, and he is expected to make the Black Stars squad for the international friendlies against Germany and Austria later this month.

The two games will be used by Otto Addo to decide on which players make the plane to North America this summer for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“It will be a dream come true for me and for every player, you know if you can represent your country, your roots,” he told GhanaSoccernet in an exclusive interview.

“It’s crazy when I did my debut last season and this year I was in Ghana too, in December to New Year, I celebrated the New Year in Ghana with my family and it was a special day and a special moment,” he added.

Owusu will be hoping to justify his inclusion to the squad by convincing the technical handlers of the Black Stars in the March international break.

“I will just keep doing good performances. I will try help the team and also CF Montreal and hopefully get the honour of a call up,” he said.

The 29-year-old, who finished last season as CF Montreal’s top scorer with 13 goals in the MLS, netted his first of the campaign on Sunday as the Canadian thrashed New York Red Bulls.

Before deciding to play for Ghana, Owusu had represented Germany at youth level.

“To be honest it was a longer though for me to play for my roots. I think players, it doesn’t matter where you were born, I think you should represent the roots of your family and for me it was pretty clear I wanted to play for Ghana and represent Ghana and this makes my family proud. This was an easy answer for me,” he concluded.
