Joel Kojo is making a new move in his football journey, heading from Iran to Uzbekistan as he joins Neftchi Fergana on loan.
The Ghana-born striker, who plays for the Kyrgyzstan national team, is leaving Istiklol after a year and a half for a fresh challenge.
Neftchi will pay $225,000 for the six-month deal, which includes both the loan fee and Kojo’s wages. Club director Narzulla Saidullaev confirmed the deal, highlighting its importance for both Kojo’s career and the team’s ambitions.
Kojo signed a 3.5-year contract with Istiklol in January 2024 after moving from Dinamo for $400,000. Since then, he’s featured in 17 matches and found the net three times. His first goal came on February 3, 2025, in a 1â1 AFC Champions League Elite draw against Iraq’s Al Shorta.
Now in Uzbekistan, Kojo is focused on refining his game and contributing to Neftchi’s goals. The switch gives him a chance to prove himself in the league and strengthen his presence on the pitch.
