Sveindís Jónsdóttir leads Angel City to top of the table
Could this be the year Angel City finally lives up its Hollywood billing? The league leaders have netted a NWSL-high seven goals while conceding just one. Angel City’s starting line-up Saturday averaged 23 years and 142 days, becoming the youngest ever to earn a win in league history.
Sveindís Jónsdóttir is one such youthful player who has come into her own. The 24-year-old helped herself to a brace and an assist in Angel City’s dominant 3-1 win over Bay FC. She tops the league in goal involvements with four. Jónsdóttir had a higher individual Expected Goal rate (.99 per Opta) than seven teams this weekend. When Jónsdóttir signed with Angel City from Wolfsburg in May 2025 she pledged, “To the Angel City fans, I will always give my all and I can’t wait to celebrate victories with you.” There has been much to celebrate.
