It was a memorable return to action for American winger Kevin Paredes.
Paredes registered one assist in Wolfsburg’s 2-2 road Bundesliga draw with Mainz. The U.S. men’s national team winger/wingback played 63 minutes, adding his first goal contribution since May 2024.
It was a fast start for Wolfsburg as Paredes set up Maximilian Arnold after only three minutes. Paredes’ pass in the middle of the field was eventually blasted home by Arnold for a 1-0 Wolfsburg lead.
Jae-Sung Lee equalized for Mainz before Dominik Kohr propelled the hosts in front 2-1 before halftime.
Veteran centerback Denis Vavro tied things up for Wolfsburg in the 89th minute, splitting the points between the two clubs.
Paredes played 63 minutes as a right midfielder, winning eight duels, creating two offensive chances, and completing two tackles. The 21-year-old missed ample time this season through injury, but looks set to play a large role over the final stretch of the league campaign.
Wolfsburg sits 12th in the Bundesliga table with four matches left to play.
