Boston Legacy FC announced Thursday that the club will play its 2027 National Women’s Soccer League home matches at Centreville Bank Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The move into White Stadium, their permanent home, has been pushed back to 2028.
The announcement follows the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court’s ruling that cleared the legal path for Boston Legacy and the City of Boston to complete the renovation of White Stadium. Following the ruling, the project team completed a review of the remaining construction schedule, confirming that the Legacy will move into White Stadium in 2028.
“Throughout this journey, we have been guided by a simple belief: Boston deserves a world-class home for professional women’s soccer and youth sports — a home that will shape the future of our club, expand opportunities for Boston Public Schools students, and serve families and communities for generations to come,” said Jennifer Epstein, Controlling Owner of Boston Legacy FC. “With certainty now in place, we are excited to continue building our club and our community together at Centreville Bank Stadium in 2027, while keeping our eyes on what has always been the destination: bringing Boston Legacy FC home to White Stadium.”
The stadium renovation was a central piece of ownership’s successful bid to receive an NWSL expansion team for the 2026 season. White Stadium was initially promised as the home venue for 2026, then 2027, and now that has been pushed back to 2028. This presumably means no games will be played in Massachusetts in 2027, barring a one-off at Gillette Stadium or another location closer to Boston.
In the meantime, construction is progressing at White Stadium as crews work on site six days a week. When complete, it will have 10,500 permanent seats around a natural grass playing surface.
Centreville Bank Stadium, opened in 2025, is a soccer-specific stadium that features modern facilities and a compact lower-bowl with an arena-like configuration. The 10,500-seat venue in Rhode Island is host to seven of the Legacy’s inaugural season home games. Over the six games already played there in 2026, the Legacy have averaged an attendance of 8,980 with a record of 2-3-1 (W-L-D).
“Centreville Bank Stadium provides the type of intimate, energetic atmosphere that can create a true home-field advantage, and we’re excited to welcome Boston Legacy FC back for another season,” said Paul Byrne, General Manager of Centreville Bank Stadium. “We want this to be a place where the club can win games, build momentum and give its supporters an outstanding fan experience.”
The Legacy have three home games left to play in 2026, two at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Ma., and one at Centreville Bank Stadium.
