Real Madrid have the chance to end a dismal week on a high when they host Girona in La Liga on Friday.
Alvaro Arbeloa’s side are seven points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona following a last-gasp 2-1 defeat at Real Mallorca last Sunday and lost 2-1 at home to Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final on Tuesday.
Girona are seven points above the relegation zone with eight matches remaining after beating Villarreal 1-0 at home on Monday.
Despite Madrid’s defeats, Girona coach Michel knows it will be a difficult game for his side. “I don’t even look at who the opponent has played, nor who they will play in the next game,” Michel told Marca.
“Playing at the Bernabeu is not easy and the normal thing is that it is a game of suffering… there is never a good time to play there.
“We will try to control what we can and have a top mentality to suffer together. We want to show our best version of ourselves.”
