Robertson’s Anfield Days Look Numbered
The Scottish international, who joined from Hull City back in 2017, has been a Liverpool stalwart for nearly a decade. However, at 32, his influence has visibly diminished this season. Robertson has managed just six starts across 30 Premier League games, clocking a mere 753 minutes — largely reduced to a bench option since Miloš Kerkez cemented his place as first choice at left-back.
A summer exit now feels inevitable.
Who Is Vinicius Lira?
Lira, 18, is one of Brazilian football’s most exciting emerging talents. Liverpool’s scouts have been closely monitoring his development at Vila Belmiro, with Santos reportedly grooming him for a bigger first-team role.
The move would align perfectly with Liverpool’s well-established model of targeting elite young talent — a blueprint already demonstrated through signings like Rio Ngumoha, Talla Ndiaye, and Ifeanyi Ndukwe.
A Deal Worth the Wait?
Here’s the concern though — Lira is sidelined until 2027 following an ACL injury, which raises serious questions about the timing of any deal.
Whilst the signing has long-term merit, Liverpool arguably need an experienced, Premier League-ready option to fill Robertson’s boots immediately.
Lira could still be a smart acquisition for the future — but right now, Arne Slot needs proven quality on that left flank.
