Reds monitoring Italy international’s progress in Florence
Liverpool have been credited with a long-standing interest in Fiorentina midfielder Cher Ndour, according to TEAMtalk, as the Anfield club continue their search for fresh options in the middle of the park.
The 22-year-old began his career at ASD San Giacomo before spells with Brescia and Atalanta, and later joined Benfica’s academy at just 16. He broke into the Portuguese club’s senior side in 2023, but allowed his contract to run down and subsequently signed for Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer.
Opportunities proved scarce in the French capital, prompting a couple of loan moves to keep his development on track. Ndour eventually sealed a permanent switch to Fiorentina last year, initially as a squad option before establishing himself as a regular starter this term, featuring in five of the Viola’s opening six fixtures across all competitions.
Merseyside interest, but competition mounting
Liverpool are said to admire the player, though no formal approach has been made so far. Manchester United had also monitored him previously but opted instead to strengthen their engine room with Andrey Santos, Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba during the summer window.
TEAMtalk add that Aston Villa, Newcastle United, Brighton, Crystal Palace and Hull City have all made enquiries this year and remain interested suitors.
Ndour, contracted until 2029, is valued at roughly £17million by Transfermarkt, though Liverpool reportedly believe he could become attainable in the near future.
A versatile, physically imposing option
Standing at 6ft 3in, the right-footed Italian operates predominantly as a box-to-box midfielder but can equally deputise in a deeper role. His blend of pace, strength and composure on the ball, allied to his ability to drive forward from deep positions, makes him an intriguing profile.
Having already earned senior international recognition with Italy, Ndour looks well-equipped physically for the demands of English football, and it wouldn’t be surprising to see suitors circle again come January.
