The Trincão Redemption Story
After a frustrating spell at Barcelona — where he managed just three goals in 42 appearances — and a similarly underwhelming two-season loan at Wolves, few would have predicted Trincão becoming one of Europe’s hottest properties.
Yet that’s exactly what’s happened. Since Sporting exercised their permanent option in 2023, the Portuguese winger has been transformed, racking up 97 goal contributions in over 200 appearances, including 30 this season alone. The 25-year-old is a man reborn in Lisbon.
Why Liverpool And Chelsea Both Need Him
For Liverpool, the need is obvious. With Mohamed Salah’s departure and Cody Gakpo struggling for consistency, Arne Slot desperately needs a reliable wide attacker. Trincão’s technical quality, creativity and direct dribbling make him an ideal candidate.
Chelsea’s situation is equally pressing. Long-term injuries to Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Willian Estevão have exposed the squad’s lack of depth, while Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho have blown hot and cold throughout the campaign.

With a £51m release clause and a contract running until 2030, Sporting hold all the cards — but at that price, either club would be getting outstanding value for a player finally fulfilling his enormous potential.
