Liverpool reportedly do not plan on making another bid for Alexander Isak after Newcastle United rejected their opening offer.
The Reds submitted an official approach for the striker on Friday, tabling a bid of around £110 million plus add-ons.
Newcastle turned it down as they value their star player, who has three years left to run on his contract, at £150m.
Liverpool perform dramatic U-turn on Alexander Isak transfer
It was initially reported by multiple outlets that Liverpool would return with another bid to test the Magpies’ resolve, but that no longer appears to be the case.
Ben Jacobs and Alex Crook jointly reported that the Merseyside outfit have “no plans” to “follow up with a second offer”.
Jacobs claims that Liverpool view the pursuit as “futile unless Newcastle change their stance and contact” over a deal for the Sweden international. Crook added that Liverpool refuse to “get dragged into a cycle of rejected bids”.
Liverpool ECHO journalist Ian Doyle corroborated their reporting, posting that Liverpool won’t go back in for Isak “given the clarity of Newcastle’s swift and emphatic response” to their first bid.
