Liverpool ready to rival Chelsea for Camara signing

Liverpool have contacted Lamine Camara’s camp to discuss a potential move for the Monaco midfielder next summer.

Camara came close to a £47m deadline-day transfer to Chelsea with a deal in place, only for Monaco with pull the plug on the move late in the window. Chelsea were left ‘furious’ with the situation, having targeted Camara as a replacement for Enzo Fernandez.

The West Londoners could now face competition for the 22-year-old, with Liverpool in pursuit. talkSPORT are reporting that Liverpool have made initial contact to discuss a move for next summer. The Reds told Curtis Jones to Inter Milan during the summer window and are eyeing up midfield reinforcements for next season.

Last season, Camara ranked among Ligue 1’s leading midfielders for fouls drawn, expected assists, duels won, and interceptions per 90 minutes.

At 22, he’s already won 49 caps for Senegal, winning AFCON in 2022. Monaco’s CEO has already suggested Camara will be sold at the end of the current season.
