Manchester United have made an offer to BK Häcken for Sweden international winger Monica Jusu Bah, according to The Athletic. United are seeking a left-sided attacker following the departures of Melvine Malard and Leah Galton this summer, as new head coach Eva Olid looks to bring in her own signings before the window closes.
The 23-year-old joined Häcken from Swedish rivals Umeå in 2023 and has become an important part of the Gothenburg club’s side, scoring 25 goals in 95 appearances. She helped Häcken win last season’s Damallsvenskan title and has been capped twice by Sweden.
Jusu Bah is under contract through 2028
Jusu Bah signed a three-and-a-half-year extension with Häcken in September 2025 and is contracted to the club through December 2028.
Of Sierra Leonean descent, Jusu Bah is a left winger with almost 100 appearances for Häcken. She has been described as a super-fast, direct attacker who thrives in transition and high-intensity counter-attacking systems, and is also capable of playing as a striker, bringing high-quality pressing to the front line, a profile that fits closely with the system Olid wants to build. The Athletic reports that she also has experience in the Champions League and Europa League.
United’s need for a left-sided attacker
United’s recruitment this summer has drawn concern from supporters following a number of departures. Under Olid, defender Andrea Medina has arrived from Atlético Madrid and goalkeeper Janina Leitzig from Leicester City, while Gabby George, Hannah Blundell, Millie Turner, Lisa Naalsund and Galton are among those to have left alongside Malard.
Malard was United’s joint top scorer in the WSL last term, level with Jess Park and Elisabeth Terland on six goals apiece. United have lost all three of their pre-season friendlies, and reports on the club’s business this summer have been blunt, describing the recruitment as “not been great, to put it lightly.” Jusu Bah has scored close to a goal every four appearances for Häcken.
United have maintained that they are looking to their academy for the future, but the club’s coaching staff recognise that such a shift will take time. The Athletic reported that an experienced winger was needed if United were to continue challenging at the top end of the table.
An offer remains the reported position
Swedish outlets Fotbollskanalen and SVT Sport have also reported that United have made an offer for Jusu Bah.
If a move is completed, Jusu Bah would become United’s fifth Swedish player, joining Fridolina Rolfo, Julia Zigiotti, Hanna Lundkvist, and Ellen Wangerheim, who signed from Hammarby in January.
What comes next for United’s rebuild
The Athletic reported earlier this month that, on the day United director of football operations Ameesh Manek informed players that head coach Marc Skinner would be stepping down by mutual agreement, he told the squad the club were recruiting a winger and a defender. More than 20 days have passed since that discussion, and United have now made their reported offer for Jusu Bah under Olid’s direction.
