Manchester United could be about to pull off a surprise swoop in the transfer market, with Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens emerging as a serious target this summer.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, United are actively exploring goalkeeper options amid uncertainty surrounding Andre Onana’s availability. The Cameroonian shot-stopper is currently nursing an injury that could keep him out of the club’s upcoming pre-season friendlies in the United States.
While Altay Bayindir remains a backup option, the Red Devils are keen to reinforce the position — and not just temporarily. Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez has been heavily linked, with the Argentine World Cup winner reportedly open to a move to Old Trafford. However, United are also exploring younger options to add depth and long-term value to their squad.
That’s where Senne Lammens comes into the picture.
The 23-year-old Belgian, who has been on United’s radar for several months, fits the profile of a talented understudy who could develop under Onana’s mentorship — or even compete for the No.1 spot in the near future. Reports suggest that Lammens could be available for a fee in the region of €20 million, making him a relatively affordable option in today’s market.
With United still fine-tuning their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season, a move for Lammens could be a smart and strategic addition — particularly if Onana’s injury issues linger or if long-term doubts about his form remain.
