Manchester United have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Atlético Madrid forward Alexander Sorloth, as per TEAMtalk.
After joining Crystal Palace from FC Midtjylland back in 2018, the 30-year-old struggled to find his feet in the Premier League. However, he has been displaying his goal-scoring prowess in La Liga in recent years.
Initially, the forward showcased his productivity for Villarreal during the 2023/24 campaign, scoring 26 goals and registering six assists across all competitions.
Having been impressed by his performances, Los Rojiblancos decided to purchase him a couple of years ago. He has mainly featured as a rotational option under Diego Simeone; still, he has shown glimpses of his qualities.
During the 2024/25 season, he made 26 goal contributions across all competitions and tallied 21 goals and assists in all tournaments last campaign.
Now, TEAMtalk state that although Sorloth still has a contract until 2028 at the Estadio Metropolitano, he is ready to leave to take a new challenge in his career.
So, intermediaries close to the player have started exploring options to find a suitable destination for him, and Man Utd have been offered the chance to sign him.
Sorloth to Man Utd
With Joshua Zirkzee linked with a move to Fiorentina, the Red Devils want a new striker to create competition for Benjamin Sesko and are interested in signing Sorloth.
The report state that Sorloth isn’t the only option on United’s radar to bolster the frontline, as Freiburg’s Igor Matanovic, Hoffenheim’s Fisnik Asllani and RB Leipzig’s Conrad Harder are also on Michael Carrick’s wishlist.
Moreover, Man Utd are interested in signing Crystal Palace duo Jean-Philippe Mateta and Ismaila Sarr, while they have been offered the chance to sign Jonathan David.
Sorloth is a 6ft 5in tall left-footed striker but plays as a right winger for Norway. He is good in the air, can finish off his chances, and works hard without possession. He is a talented player and is currently at the prime stage of his career.
Therefore, the 30-year-old might be a shrewd short-term acquisition for Man Utd should they purchase him. However, it is going to be interesting to see whether the Old Trafford club eventually opt to secure his services this summer.
