Manchester City youngster earns first England call-up



Manchester City youngster Nico O'Reilly has been called up to the England squad

Manchester City youngster Nico O’Reilly has been called up to the England squad for October’s internationals against Wales and Latvia.

O’Reilly moves up to the senior squad from the u-21 side, following the withdrawal of Chelsea captain Reece James through injury.

The 20-year-old has been a regular for England at youth level, earning caps from u-16 duty to the u-20 side. He has been recognised by Thomas Tuchel after a strong start to the season at the Etihad, where has has started seven games across all competitions.

The versatile O’Reilly adds options for Tuchel, having operated at left-back and in midfield.

England face Wales in a friendly fixture on Thursday, before continuing their World Cup qualification campaign against Latvia on Tuesday October 14th.
