Manchester United have added Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni to their list of potential targets for the summer window.
The Red Devils want to bring it at least two first-team midfielders this summer and have been linked with a host of names, including Nottingham Forest’s Elliot Anderson and Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali.
Tchouameni has been added to the list as United target a number six to replace Casemiro, who will leave Old Trafford when his contract expires in the summer.
According to the BBC, United are prepared to test Real’s resolve with an approach for the France international.
The Spanish side are contemplating sales to raise funds for their own rebuild and an offer in the region of £70m could persuade Los Blancos to the negotiating table.
Tchouameni is happy in Madrid and contracted until 2028, leaving Real in a strong position to demand a high fee.
Manchester United are preparing to return to the Champions League next season, a situation which will increase funds available to spend. Last weekend’s 1-0 win at Chelsea means Michael Carrick’s team need just six points from their final five games.
