Former Italy and Manchester City star Mario Balotelli has met New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani following his visit to the United States.Balotelli has been in the United States for holidays and has been following the World Cup currently ongoing in America despite the absence of Italy.He recently made a TV appearance wearing the Ghana jersey, showing solidarity to the country of his parents.”There is no Italy in the World Cup, so I support Ghana. I am from Ghana, and I’m proud. I love the players. Semenyo, I love the way he plays. I think 2010 was the best team of Ghana,” said the 35-year-old.The former AC Milan forward also took the opportunity to visit his new friend Mamdani, where they reportedly watched a game together at his residence.Balotelly, who was his brother Enoch, presented a Ghanaian jersey with his name printed on it to the Mayor.Mamdani quoted Balotelli just before the start of the World Cup, stating New York will be ‘doing their work’ by delivering the best tournament experience.He referenced the striker who once said he does not celebrate his goals because he is doing his job.In recent times, the relationship between the politician and the Italian footballer has grown even stronger, with Balotelli and Mamdani spotted playing football together.Mamdani has become even more popular for his love for sports, and was actively supporting the New York Knocks to ending their 53-year wait for the NBA title.The ardent Arsenal fan also saw his favourite Premier League club win the title, ending a 22-year wait for the trophy.
