Head coach of Medeama SC, Ibrahim Tanko has thrown his weight behind midfielder Salim Adams for a potential Black Stars call up following a string of outstanding performances in the Ghana Premier League.

The 23-year-old midfielder’s season has been stellar, racking up five goals in 19 Ghana Premier League appearances for the Yellow and Mauve, who are in contention for their second league title.

The former New Edubiase United marksman arrived in Tarkwa at the beginning of the 2025/26 football and has become a mainstay in Ibrahim Tanko’s squad.

Adams’ impressive run of form has not gone unnoticed, with a section of Ghanaians advocating for his inclusion in the national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup tournament, to be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

“It’s no secret that Salim is doing well and scoring some fantastic goals. With the Black Stars technical team closely monitoring the league, I’m sure he is going to get his chance into the team” he said.

Adams is no stranger to national duty, having previously featured for the Ghana U23, where he made two appearances and scored once.

He first rose to prominence in 2021 after sealing a move from New Edubiase United to Hearts of Oak. During his time with the Phobians, the enterprising midfielder also gained international exposure with a loan spell at FC Cincinnati 2 in the United States.

With his current form attracting widespread praise, Adams will be hoping his performances continue to strengthen his case for a maiden senior national team call-up.
