‘No one has spoken to me’ – George Afriyie denies Kotoko CEO talks – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) vice president George Afriyie has dismissed speculation linking him to the chief executive officer role at Asante Kotoko, insisting that no official approach has been made regarding the position.

Reports in recent days suggested the experienced football administrator was among prominent names being considered for a top executive role at the Kumasi-based side ahead of the 2026/27 season.

The rumours gained traction as Kotoko reportedly plan to dissolve the interim management structure that has overseen the club for the past two seasons.

But Afriyie has moved to pour cold water on the speculation.

“No doubt, Asante Kotoko is a big club with a rich history, but at the moment, I am not in the race to become the new CEO of the club,”** he stated.

The former GFA vice president acknowledged that while informal chatter may exist in football circles, it has not translated into any concrete discussion.

“Perhaps there have been conversations somewhere, but as it stands now, no one has spoken to me about becoming the chief executive officer. I have friends there, but nothing has been discussed.”

Afriyie’s clarification brings some clarity to the leadership rumours swirling around the Porcupine Warriors, even as supporters await news of the club’s next administrative structure. For now, the former FA official remains firmly on the outside looking in.
