Nottingham Forest have parted company with head coach Carly Davies.
WSL Full-Time were informed of the news via an official media update from The Tricky Trees this morning.
Davies’ departure comes as a big surprise. In her three seasons in charge at Nottingham Forest, Davies has won the FA Women’s National League Cup and delivered the club’s long-awaited promotion to Barclays WSL2. Nottingham Forest faced the challenge of establishing themselves in Barclays WSL2 this season and they generally impressed as they collected 30 points from 22 matches and secured a seventh-place finish.
Nottingham Forest are keen to pursue further upward movement in the coming years with Barclays Women’s Super League football on their radar and they have opted for a change of management in a bid to achieve that goal.
Promotion to the Barclays Women’s Super League is no easy feat. None of the clubs to come out of the FA Women’s National League have been promoted to the top tier over the last nine years. Charlton Athletic could end that record this season, if they win their play-off tie against Leicester City. The Addicks have had eight attempts to reach the top flight since being promoted to the second tier in 2018.
Nottingham Forest will announce their new management team in due course.
