During his sole run at the BayArena, the forward made 45 appearances across all competitions, contributing five goals and eight assists.In his first official interview with his new club, Poku outlined exactly why he opted for Istanbul over other potential suitors, pointing to the intensity of the league and the tactical setup as key factors.”I chose to play for Besiktas because of the fans and also [because of] the league, how competitive it is, and it fits well with my style of play,” he stated.The winger also highlighted the impact he expects the passionate Besiktas faithful to have on his adaptation and performances, admitting their energy was a major pull factor in his decision.”I know the fans are super amazing that’s something I like, and it’s something that’s going to give me a boost,” he added.With Besiktas eager to challenge for domestic honours this season, Poku will be hoping to rediscover the consistent form that made him a standout performer in the Eredivisie during his time at AZ Alkmaar, while the club will look to capitalise on his pace and versatility in the final third.
