Ghanaian forward Raymond Asante enjoyed a dream debut for Patro Eisden, scoring early in a breathless 4-4 draw against Genk U23 in the Challenger Pro League.
The hosts made a stunning start at the Patrostadion, with Leandro Rousseau opening the scoring inside the first minute before Asante doubled the lead on six minutes to cap a perfect introduction.
Genk U-23 battled back, Victory Beniangba striking either side of half time to haul the visitors level at 2-2 and swing momentum their way. Patro responded through Jordan Renson on 62 minutes and Japhet Muanza in the 73rd to restore a two-goal cushion at 4-2, only for Genk’s late surge to deny them all three points.
Jonathan Coenen made it 4-3 on 84 minutes, and deep into stoppage time Julien Devriendt turned the ball into his own net to complete a dramatic comeback for the visitors.
Patro Eisden will look to build on this attacking display when they travel to face Club Brugge NXT next Friday, while Genk U23 host FC Liege the following day.
