Talk of a blockbuster swap deal between Real Madrid and Liverpool involving Eduardo Camavinga and Ryan Gravenberch has surfaced in the Catalan press, but credible sources close to both clubs suggest the story lacks substance. Despite Madrid’s interest in strengthening their midfield options, a direct exchange between the two young talents appears far-fetched and likely to remain pure speculation.
Camavinga’s name has been linked with Liverpool in recent weeks due to his limited minutes under Xabi Alonso following an injury lay-off. The 21-year-old Frenchman has reportedly drawn interest from several Premier League clubs, including Manchester City and Chelsea. But any serious conversation about an exit appears premature.
Catalan reports raise eyebrows with swap claims
The rumour, which originated in E-Noticies, claims Real Madrid have “studied” a swap deal that would send Camavinga to Liverpool in exchange for Ryan Gravenberch. Madrid are reportedly aware of Liverpool’s longstanding admiration for Aurélien Tchouaméni, but the Frenchman is considered “untouchable” leading Los Blancos to supposedly consider Camavinga as a “bargaining chip”.
However, multiple sources have challenged the legitimacy of this narrative. TEAMtalk insists the story holds little weight, with doubts over how such information would emerge from Madrid via a Barcelona-based outlet. The competitive rivalry between the two clubs makes it highly unlikely that Madrid would leak high-level transfer plans to Catalan media.
Real Madrid committed to Camavinga future
Xabi Alonso’s comments further undermine the report. The Real Madrid boss spoke glowingly of Camavinga’s potential in September, highlighting his energy, versatility, and fit within the club’s long-term plans. He stated: “From the ‘6’ position, with his dribbling, he can get into the final third. He’s not static, he’s dynamic.”
Sources in Spain also confirm Alonso personally urged Camavinga to remain in Madrid over the summer amid Premier League interest, reiterating that the midfielder remains a key part of the club’s project.
Liverpool have no plans to offload Ryan Gravenberch
On the Liverpool side, TEAMtalk’s Dean Jones reports the Reds have no interest in selling Gravenberch especially not in an exchange. The Dutch international has settled in well and is expected to be offered a new long-term deal. Liverpool view him as a crucial component of their midfield rebuild, and recent performances have only strengthened that stance.
“Sources in Spain don’t believe this is a live pursuit,” Jones confirmed, “but the level of performance he [Gravenberch] is showing means such speculation cannot be ignored.”
Conclusion: No swap deal, no traction
While Camavinga’s situation at Madrid may prompt occasional transfer chatter, there is no credible indication that a swap involving Gravenberch is in motion or even on the table. Both players remain highly valued by their current clubs, and the supposed deal appears to be nothing more than a headline-grabbing rumour with little foundation in reality.
Liverpool and Madrid may cross paths in the market again, particularly with mutual interest in top midfield talent. But this proposed exchange is not one either club appears ready to entertain.
