Igor Tudor has admitted Tottenham Hotspur have a battle to survive this season but said relegation worries pale in comparison to ‘real pressures’.
Spurs take on Crystal Palace tomorrow in a crucial clash for the North Londoners, who are on their joint-longest winless run in Premier League history (10 games).
Tudor has failed to win in his two games in charge and Spurs sit just four points above the Premier League relegation places.
The Croatian conceded there is pressure on his team to survive, but aimed to alleviate the situation somewhat with a comparison to the ‘life and death’ pressure of being a nurse or doctor.
“Everyone understands the situation. There is something wrong if you don’t understand. My job is to put the pressure away, but the players job is to accept the pressure is there.
“There is real pressure out there. People need to make money for their families and are working in jobs like doctors, who are doing operations and deciding about life and death. That’s real pressure.
“We just have to be ready to accept this and stand up. We have to be ready to say ‘we can do this’ so that we don’t fall behind. We have to take responsibility and have the courage to confront this.
“This is the best way to do it, and the only way to do it [in my opinion].”
