Reports, results, goals including Coventry vs Derby, Middlesbrough vs Millwall and full highlights as EFL teams chase Premier League places

Coventry City look unassailable at the top of the Championship after beating Derby County and Millwall are on course to reach the Premier League for the first time in their history after coming from behind at the Riverside Stadium to beat Middlesbrough in Saturday’s Championship action.

Wrexham displaced Southampton inside the play-off places with a draw at West Bromwich Albion, who are now four points clear of Leicester City and Oxford United, the teams above relegated Sheffield Wednesday in the bottom three.

A late equaliser away to Norwich City moved Portsmouth fourth-bottom by a point, while Bristol City won their first match under the interim leadership of former England head coach Roy Hodgson with a 2-1 victory at Charlton Athletic.

Coventry City vs Derby County: Rudoni goals seal win

Substitute Jack Rudoni’s double included the winner 10 minutes from time as Coventry moved 12 points above third-placed Middlesbrough with a 3-2 home win over Derby County.

With six matches remaining, the Sky Blues are closing in on a return to the top flight for the first time since 2000/01.

“The fans are incredible,” Coventry coach Frank Lampard told Sky Sports after the victory over one of his former clubs.

“Both teams took part in a great game of football and we’ve come out on top. I really enjoyed the game.

“There’s always tension in this part of this season. It became a game with a bit of transition. Credit to Derby – they had a good feeling at the end of the first half.

“The way we came out and played in the second, having talked at half-time, was more us. It was a different performance.”

Middlesbrough vs Millwall: Coburn clinches comeback

Josh Coburn, who joined Millwall from Middlesbrough for £5 million last summer, struck twice in the second half as the Lions came from behind to move a point above Boro, who are now third.

Dael Fry had headed the hosts in front in the 26th minute. “They showed how good they are in the first half,” said Coburn.

“We were buzzing to get the win. Coming back here is a bit of a weird feeling – it’s the first time I’ve been here.”

Charlton vs Bristol City: Hodgson rouses Robins

Hodgson’s appointment at City attracted ample attention this week and the veteran inspired his side to a first win in seven matches in all competitions.

City had taken one point from their previous five league games but Scott Twine’s 11th-minute opener and Noah Eile’s 55th-minute winner resulted in a 2-1 victory at The Valley.

“I enjoyed parts of the game immensely,” said Hodgson, explaining to City’s channels that his first half had been spoiled by a refereeing decision over a throw-in that he felt had helped Charlton equalise through Lyndon Dykes.

“I can only hope that [the fans] will get some heart now from these remaining six games that I’ve got [in charge], and that will boost them going into next season.

“I’m sure a lot of changes will be made. Recruitment will be in full swing and a new, vital, energetic new manager will be in charge – someone, hopefully, who’s not 78 years of age.”
