Sunderland have announced the news that eight players are leaving the club this summer.
The Lady Black Cats revealed their end of season exit list via a post on their official club website earlier today.
It has been confirmed that Louise Griffiths, Libbi McInnes, Demi Lambourne, Hannah Greenwood, Jamie Finn, Ellen Jones, Reanna Blades and Grace Moloney will all be moving on this summer.
Griffiths and McInnes are the most notable departures. Both players have represented Sunderland since the old WSL days. They have turned out for the Wearsiders in the top three tiers of the women’s game and helped the club regain their Tier 2 status back in summer 2021.
Jones and Lambourne have both enjoyed multiple campaigns with Sunderland while Greenwood, Finn, Blades and Moloney move on after spending just a year in the North East.
Sunderland are currently in contract talks with Jessica Brown and Eleanor Dale while 15 players are tied down on professional contracts for next season.
Sunderland fans are cautiously optimistic for an exciting summer in the transfer market following last month’s news that Bay Collective have acquired a majority stake in the club. The group hope to build strong foundations both on and off the pitch going forward.
