Tonali keen on Italy return despite Premier League suitors

Sandro Tonali would be keen on a return to Italy this summer despite interest from Premier League clubs.

The Newcastle midfielder has been linked with an exit from St James’ Park in recent days as the Magpies struggle for consistent results.

Tonali is understood to be ready to leave Newcastle should the club miss out on Champions League football, with Eddie Howe’s side currently 12th in the table and 10 points adrift of the qualification places.

Manchester United, Manchester City and Arsenal are all monitoring his situation, though the player’s preference would be a return to Italy. talkSPORT have reported that Tonali is open to a Serie A return with Juventus among the clubs keen to sign him.

However, it remains to be seen whether any Serie A side could match Newcastle’s asking price. Newcastle value Tonali at between £80m and £100m. There have only ever been four Serie A transfers for fees in excess of £80m.
