Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing a swoop to bring Conor Gallagher back to the Premier League, according to TBR Football.
The 25-year-old England international, who rose through the Chelsea academy ranks, enjoyed a breakout season during his loan spell at Crystal Palace in 2021/22, registering 13 goal contributions across all competitions. His dynamic performances earned him a regular spot at Stamford Bridge in the following two campaigns.
Gallagher’s La Liga Struggles Open Door for Spurs
Last summer, Chelsea opted to cash in on Gallagher, with Atletico Madrid securing his signature. On paper, his energetic style seemed a perfect fit for Diego Simeone’s high-octane system. But reality told a different story.

Gallagher failed to nail down a consistent starting role under the Argentine tactician and was often played out of position on the flank in Simeone’s rigid 4-4-2 setup. As a result, the midfielder’s progress stalled in the Spanish capital.
Spurs See Gallagher as Alternative to Gibbs-White
Tottenham’s interest in Gallagher isn’t new—they were linked with him last summer before his move to Spain. With four years still remaining on his contract and a current valuation of £35 million (per Transfermarkt), a deal won’t be straightforward.
Spurs have been on the lookout for a new attacking midfielder, with Morgan Gibbs-White emerging as their top target. After triggering his £60m release clause, Tottenham thought they had landed the Nottingham Forest star. However, Forest threatened legal action over the negotiation tactics, leaving the deal in limbo.
That has now placed Gallagher firmly on Tottenham’s radar as a viable and more cost-effective Plan B.
What’s Next for Spurs?
With Thomas Frank now at the helm, Spurs have made only one major signing so far—Mohammed Kudus from West Ham. Adding Gallagher would not only bolster their midfield depth but also bring Premier League experience and versatility to the squad.
As the summer window heats up, all eyes will be on whether Tottenham make a formal bid for the Atletico Madrid man.
