
Dutch-Ghanaian defender Tyrese Asante registered his first assist of the season in Maccabi Tel Avivs 3-1 loss to Beitar Jerusalem in the Ligat HaAl Championship Group on Monday evening.The 23-year-old played the full 90 minutes and set up Maccabis only goal of the night with a clever pass to Osher Davida in the 84th minute. Davida fired home from a tight angle to briefly give the visitors hope after falling two goals behind.Beitar, however, had other plans. Mayron George opened the scoring in the 53rd minute before Jean Marcelin doubled the lead from close range after a corner in the 66th. Despite Maccabi pulling one back, Yarin Levi sealed the win deep into stoppage time with a curling effort into the top corner.The result narrows the head-to-head gap between the teams, which now stands at 13 wins for Beitar, 21 for Maccabi, and 11 draws.Maccabi Tel Aviv will look to bounce back when they face Hapoel Haifa on April 26th.
