Arsenal book a ticket to the Carabao Cup final at Wembley after eliminating their London rival, Chelsea, with a 4-2 aggregate. Mikel Arteta’s men will be looking to lift their first trophy this season as they set to face their arch-rival, Manchester City, in the final.
Arsenal Beat Chelsea to Snatch Carabao Cup Final Ticket
Taking a 3-2 lead in the first leg, the Gunners were keen on taking that advantage as they played in front of their home crowd at Emirates. Acknowledging the danger that Chelsea possesses, especially with a slender aggregate lead, the Gunners took a cautious approach to the game.
Arteta’s men were content to absorb pressure, allowing the Blues to try and break down the Gunners’ defense. Despite experiencing some scares, the home team were able to hold firm before eventually securing their ticket into the next round after netting home the winning goal.
It was the substitute, Kai Havertz, who shocked Chelsea’s defense as he netted home from close range to beat Robert Sanchez. The German international scored deep in added time, not giving Chelsea any shot of getting back into the tie.
