‘We are definitely going to go for it’ – London City to give everything against Arsenal says Pattinson

London City Lionesses defender Poppy Pattinson says that the team will give everything against Arsenal this weekend.

The Pride play host to The Gunners at The Copperjax Community Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

London City Lionesses have sold out their Bromley home for the very first time and defender Pattinson says that the team want to crown the big occasion with a great performance.

“We are definitely going to go for it,” Pattinson said when speaking in a London City Lionesses media conference. “Everyone here is super-excited about the sell-out, it’s the first time for the club [at Bromley], so it’s a huge moment.

“We just want to put on a good performance. We’ve done that in big games this season and it’s about time we get a result from it. Hopefully, this time it can happen and we are going to do everything we can for that.”

It is just London City Lionesses’ second season at The Copperjax Community Stadium. Many were initially intrigued to see whether the club could build a fanbase in Bromley. The Pride have achieved that and Pattinson says that she is not surprised to see the club sell-out a game in their home stadium.

She said “I’m not surprised. Being a part of it every day and being in and around the club building, you can definitely see the ambitions. It’s not something that we want to take time on, we want to get to the top as quickly as possible but understand it’s a process.

“The sell-out of the game is huge and we are all super-excited for it. Hopefully, it’s the start of things getting bigger and better.”

London City Lionesses face Arsenal and Chelsea in back-to-back home games. Pattinson spent the international break with many Gunners and Blues players whilst on camp with England. The defender is looking forward to facing her international teammates at club level.

She said “They’re two huge games coming up next but as players, that’s what we want to be a part of. I’ve just been in [England] camp with a lot of the girls and it’ll be fun to come up against them. They’re special players and provide a great challenge and that’s what we want to be up against.”

Pattinson collected her first senior international cap as England defeated Ukraine 6-1 in a FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027 qualifier last week. The defender said that she received a special welcome back to club.

She said “I got a special welcome this morning. The guys decorated our place with some balloons and confetti. It was so nice, it was a really nice thing to come back to.”

London City Lionesses’ Barclays Women’s Super League fixture against Arsenal kicks-off at 11.55am on Sunday.
