Whether you believe in it or not, astrology is a great way to explore the facets of the universe—and your own personality. So let’s take a look at the charts of the USWNT and see if your stars align with theirs!
Aries – Alana Cook
Our one and only Aries is Alana Cook, and she really fits the bill. Aries are known for their passion and drive, they can also be a bit impulsive but never shy away from creative thinking. Watching Cook shut down fast breaks and cover space showcases that creative thinking and dedication. On the pitch, she’s a fire sign through and through.
Taurus – Trinity Rodman
Taurus have a bit of a reputation for being stubborn and possessive, but that’s not always bad in soccer. Rodman is such a great balance of the positives and challenges of being a Taurus; she’s strong-willed, selfish when she needs to be, and above all, reliable when it comes to raising the USWNT up.
Gemini – Lindsey Heaps, Avery Patterson, Lily Yohannes, Ashley Hatch
Gemini is a complicated sign because they must always beat those two-faced accusations. But in reality, Geminis are the ones you want in leadership positions, like Lindsey Heaps. They are intelligent and quick on their feet, and they are great communicators. If there’s one thing a Gemini is, it’s versatile—do you think it’s a coincidence that Ashley Hatch, Lily Yohannes, and Avery Patterson all play different positions? That’s that Gemini power.
Cancer – Crystal Dunn, Emily Fox, Tara McKeown, Emily Sams
A Cancer is a natural nurturer. They are so open about their own feelings and receptive to others. They have great intuition and are all about giving, which makes sense that Emily Fox, Emily Sams, and Tara McKeown play defense, the most selfless position. Crystal Dunn’s leadership role on the team is where her Cancer trait shines, and the way that she moves the ball through defenses and to her teammates’ feet doesn’t hurt either.
Libra – Catarina Macario, Phallon Tullis-Joyce, Korbin Albert
Libras are all about balance; they love to see both sides of things and are always curious. With that in mind, it makes so much sense that we’ve got two midfielders under the Libra sun-sign, Catarina Macario and Korbin Albert. Our third Libra is keeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce, being in that position requires so much optimism and an even temper, which are some of this sign’s cardinal traits.
Scorpio – Alyssa Thompson, Mandy McGlynn, Jaedyn Shaw
Scorpios are the fieriest water signs around. Forwards Jaedyn Shaw and Alyssa Thompson so perfectly encapsulate the aggression, determination, and passion a Scorpio is born with. Mandy McGlynn shows off the other side of a Scorpio’s power in goal with her bravery, intuition, and control.
Sagittarius – Emily Sonnett, Gisele Thompson, Michelle Cooper
A Sagittarius is one who is going to go for it, no matter what. They get right to the point and will make you love them while they do it. We see that in the straightforward approach Michelle Cooper and Gisele Thompson have when going for the goal, and in the way Emily Sonnett leads from the back.
Capricorn – Sam Coffey, Claire Hutton
Capricorns are the strategists, they are hard thinkers, and the most disciplined. Claire Hutton is just 19 and making caps for the USWNT, largely thanks to that Capricorn mentality, and Sam Coffey has been proving herself for years. Coffey has done nothing but improve and prove herself reliable in the middle, just like her sun sign says she is.
Aquarius – Ally Sentnor, Jane Campbell
Aquarians are often referred to as the aliens of the zodiac because they are such free spirits. They march to the beat of their own drum, which makes them both rebellious and compassionate. This lovely mix is seen in Ally Sentnor’s ability to both score and assist with such ease. Aquarians are also known as the visionaries of the zodiac because of all that free energy, and you have to have vision to be a keeper like Jane Campbell.
Pisces – Yazmeen Ryan
Other than their emotions, Pisces are known for their creativity. And as an offensive player, Yazmeen Ryan has to showcase creativity at every turn. After all, you can’t win two NWSL championships by thinking inside the box.
Leo and Virgo
Currently, the USWNT roster is missing two signs with very prominent traits and personalities. Leo, the fiery attention-seeker, and Virgo, the organized hard workers. Kelley O’Hara is maybe the most vivid example of a vibrant Leo. She always has that Leo fire under her, inspiring her teammates and the fans, and using her natural leadership qualities to drive for the goal. Tierna Davidson, though now injured, was strapping on the captain band for the USWNT earlier this year thanks to her Virgo energy. Virgos are hard-working perfectionists and incredibly loyal, all the fixings for an effective captain and stellar defensive player.
