World Cup 2026: ‘Dead fish’ Carlos Queiroz might backfire for Ghana – Man United legend Roy Keane – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane believes new Ghana coach Carlos Queiroz’s style will backfire for the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Queiroz, who worked with Keane during his days at United, was appointed Ghana coach in April following the sacking of Otto Addo.

The Portuguese trainer is known for building his teams around a strong defense, a role he played in helping Sir Alex Ferguson become successful at the English giants.

However, his international coaching career has not been the best with spells at Iran, Colombia, Portugal, Egypt, Oman and Qatar.

Speaking on itv Sports, Keane said: “I just hope they don’t become too defensive. One of Carlos’ biggest strength is the defensive side of the game. Brilliant coach, huge questions marks about him as a manager. Certainly, I thought he had the personality of a dead fish when I worked with him.

“But as a coach I had good sessions with him, Now that he is coaching there are question marks about him so whether he is too defensive that might backfire on him.”

Queiroz’s first game in charge of the Black Stars ended in a 1-1 draw with Wales in the Black Stars only warm-up match ahead of the World Cup.

The Black Stars have left Virginia for Rhode Island to continue preparations ahead of their first game against Panama on June 17.
