Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has urged the Black Stars to believe in their abilities as they prepare for Monday’s pivotal 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Adams visited the team’s camp on Friday, describing the engagement as a morale-boosting gesture following Ghana’s 1-1 draw with Chad in N’Djamena.
Captain Jordan Ayew had put Ghana ahead, but a late equaliser denied Otto Addo’s side maximum points.
Despite that setback, the Black Stars still lead Group I with 16 points after seven matches, three points ahead of Madagascar and four clear of Mali.
In his address, Adams acknowledged the frustrations of the Chad result but said he had no doubts about the quality of the squad.
“I know what you’re capable of. There’s no better team than you. You have the talent, the passion, and the opportunity to turn this around,” he told the players.
Head coach Otto Addo assured the Minister that the lessons from Chad had been taken on board, while a senior player emphasised the team’s determination to bounce back: “We know what went wrong, and we are determined to correct it. The win is coming.”
Monday’s clash could prove decisive in shaping the group’s final standings.
