Monarchs Picked Third in 2025 Preseason Women’s Soccer Poll



ROME, Ga.  The USA South Athletic Conference released its 2025 women’s soccer coaches preseason poll on Thursday afternoon, projecting Methodist to finish third out of ten teams in the league this fall. The Monarchs garnered a total of 69 points and received two first–place vote.
 
Defending regular–season champion Brevard College took the top spot in the poll, collecting five first–place votes and 77 points overall. Behind the Tornados was 2024 conference tournament runner–up Southern Virginia University with three–first place votes and a total of 71 points. The Monarchs triumphed over the Knights last November, earning a 2–0 victory in the USA South tournament championship match.
 
Behind Methodist in fourth place was Greensboro College with 57 points, followed by Meredith College with 50 points. North Carolina Wesleyan University’s 37 points took sixth place, while Mary Baldwin’s 30 points were good enough for seventh. Rounding out the final three spots in the poll were William Peace University (29 points), Pfeiffer University (17 points) and Salem College (13 points).
 
Methodist begins its season at home this weekend with a match on Saturday against Eastern Mennonite University at 7 p.m.
