Brighton & Hove Albion head coach Arturo Ruiz says that his side are ready to be brave against Manchester City this weekend.
The Seagulls travel to The Joie Stadium to take on the Barclays Women’s Super League leaders on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester City have a 100-percent winning record in the league so far this season, but Brighton & Hove Albion boss Ruiz says that his side are ready to be brave against The Cityzens.
“We are going to be very brave with and without the ball and we have the game plan very ready,” Ruiz said when speaking in the pre-match press conference. “We have trained today and have another training session tomorrow before travelling [to Manchester]. We are clear with our plan and we will absolutely be competitive and play a good game. Hopefully, we can score some goals.”
Brighton & Hove Albion have already played the likes of Arsenal, London City Lionesses and Tottenham Hotspur, but Ruiz believes that Manchester City will be his side’s biggest test to date.
He said “I think so [the biggest test so far], but the priority for us right now is to compete against anybody. We are looking for three points against every rival that we face.
“Obviously, they are top of the league and they won the league last year too. Maybe, it’s our biggest test, but we have had some interesting games and this is just going to be one more.”
The Seagulls face nine games before the next international break and Ruiz outlined his side’s targets for the upcoming matches.
He said “We want to keep things very solid because if you forget about the results, performances in general have been really good.
“We want to have a very good season and we know that these nine games are very important for the season in terms of results.
“We also want to keep building our identity before the next international break.
“Those three objectives are the main ones.”
Brighton & Hove Albion’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Manchester City kicks-off at 2.30pm on Sunday afternoon.
