Viktor Gyokeres insists he can still improve despite scoring twice in Arsenal’s 4-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby.
Gyokeres was on target twice as Arsenal thrashed Tottenham to extend their lead at the top of the Premier League. The Swedish striker lashed in an effort from the edge of the area to put Arsenal ahead, after Randal Kolo Muani had cancelled our Eberechi Eze’s opener for Arsenal.
After Eze’s second goal made it three for the Gunners, Gyokeres sealed the win late on with a brace of his own.
The summer signing has now scored eight goals since the turn of the calendar year, more than any other Premier League player in that time. After a modest start to his time in North London, Gyokeres has found form but admits he can still be ‘better’.
“It was a very good performance. We started really well, created some good chances from the beginning. We took the lead and it was disappointing to concede straight away, but we kept going and created chances in the second half. We took them as well,” he said to BBC Sport.
“We felt we were in the game in a good way. We wanted to start again and create more chances. We went that way and performed really well in the second half.”
“It was good. I could have done a few things better, but it was enjoyable for me. When I’m involved like I was today, it helps my game.”
