Latest international call-up’s draw upon heavy NWSL influence

20 of the 26 players set to feature in the senior USWNT’s upcoming training camp ply their trade in the NWSL. Emma Hayes named three first-time call-up’s (Trinity Byars, Pietra Tordin and Evelyn Shores); all of them play in the league. Hayes has made no secret of her willingness to expand the USWNT player pool. In 2025 alone, she gave 44 different players caps; more than any other USWNT manager in its 40-year history. However, what is notable is the calibre of the opponent these debut call-up’s may face: defending World Cup champions Spain.
