Wyness says Tudor personality has not worked at Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur should stick by interim boss Igor Tudor unless they can bring in a manager that can rally the fanbase. That is according to former Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, amid rumours that Tudor could be sacked after just four games at Hotspur Way.

Tudor was appointed manager until the end of the season following the sacking of Thomas Frank in February, but the former Juventus boss has lost all his matches in charge so far, with Spurs hovering a point above the Premier League relegation zone.

If results do not improve, Spurs could sack Igor Tudor before the end of the season, with the club wanting Mauricio Pochettino to be their next permanent manager.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks the fans also have a massive part to play between now and the end of the season.

He told Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast: “I am always one to advocate stability. I think it’s crucial.

“But Tudor has only had three or four games. I mean, it’s hard to say there’s any stability there at all. And maybe his personality hasn’t worked. We’ve got to see what the dressing room is feeling like right now. We know there have been injuries, different issues. It’s a difficult hand he’s been dealt.”

“And so I think potentially they’ve made their choice, and I think they might as well stick with it, go through it, unless they can find a way to rally the fans in some other way, which I think could be crucial in those coming key games that are coming up.

“They can’t have empty stadiums again at half-time. They’ve got to get behind the team and do everything I can. And I say, I can’t stress how important it was for Everton, the way the fans treated the team, that really got them across the line, in my view, for three seasons in a row almost. And so it’s something that they should look at and learn from.”

Tottenham fans crucial in relegation battle

Wyness emphasizes the importance of fan support during crucial relegation battles. His experience at Everton demonstrates how supporter backing can make the difference between survival and relegation. Tottenham fans have shown frustration with the team’s performances, with some leaving at half-time during recent matches.

Tudor has inherited a difficult situation. Four consecutive defeats have left Spurs in grave danger of relegation. Sacking another manager would create further instability when stability is what the club desperately needs.

Unless Tottenham can appoint someone who immediately galvanizes the fanbase, changing managers again makes little sense.
