Former Germany coach Joachim Low is on the verge of accepting the Ghana Black Stars head coach position on a short-term deal focused solely on the 2026 FIFA World Cup, multiple sources have confirmed.
The 2014 World Cup-winning manager is expected to earn around â¬150,000 per month under the proposed agreement. Personal terms are now close to being finalised following extensive negotiations over the last 24 hours.
Löw, who led Germany to World Cup glory in Brazil 2014 and spent 15 years in charge of Die Mannschaft, brings a wealth of experience at the highest level of international football. His tactical acumen and track record of managing top-tier talent could provide the stability and direction Ghana needs ahead of the tournament.
The Black Stars have been without a permanent head coach since Otto Addo’s departure following a poor run of friendly results. With just over two months until Ghana’s World Cup opener against Panama on June 17 in Toronto, the GFA has been under pressure to make a swift appointment.
Low’s potential arrival would mark a major coup for Ghanaian football, landing one of the most decorated coaches in world football. His short-term mandate would be clear: guide the Black Stars through a challenging Group L that also includes England, Croatia, and Panama.
Official confirmation is expected in the coming days should final details be ironed out.
